Price information

A role reason, usually in the secondary role, where the customer seeks a "peer" of the primary supplier in order to ensure that the customer knows what competitive pricing is in the marketplace.

Example:

A truck leasing customer was asked why he needed another supplier in addition to one of the industry leaders, Ryder. He replied that his company was "…checking to make sure they (Ryder) were staying honest and competitive (in pricing)." (Year 1995-SIC 7513)

Explanation: The truck leasing customer was using a Secondary Role Supplier in order to have Price Information that the Primary Supplier was offering fair prices.
